SEPAC Representative
Hunnewell PTO Executive Committee consists of the president (or co-presidents), the vice president (or vice presidents), secretary, treasurer and the principal of the school.
Co-Presidents: Kim Bayliss and Joanna Troy
Provide strategic oversight of all PTO programming and budgeting, act as a liaison between Principal and PTO volunteers, facilitate PTO board meetings, and represent Hunnewell at town-wide meetings including Central Council and meetings with WPS Superintendent.
Co-Vice Presidents: Jenn Bigdeliazari and Mariana Vinacur Franklin
Support the PTO and Co-Presidents as needed. Main responsibilities include recruiting and managing room parents for each classroom, coordinating thank you note correspondence, managing the school supply program, and helping to recruit volunteers for various events.
Co-Treasurers: Jessica Madon and OPEN POSITION
Oversee all Hunnewell PTO finances, including vendor payments, volunteer reimbursements, tax preparation, updates to the PTO board, annual fund, and budget support.
Co-Secretaries: Louisa Canham and Martha Merle
Publish and manage the Hunnewell directory in Membership Toolkit and maintain PTO board meeting minutes.
Communications: Casey Bechtel
Produce PTO’s weekly newsletter, Hunnewell Happenings, and PTO e-blasts. Work with website coordinator to ensure content is up to date.
Social Media Chair: Ceren Bayulgen
Manages Hunnewell's social media channels, including content creation, event promotion, spirit-building.
Social Co-Chairs: OPEN POSITIONS
Lead a committee responsible for planning, organizing and executing Hunnewell's various social events throughout the year. Recruit volunteers from the community to assist in staffing these events. Events in the past include Ice Cream Socials, Mom/Dad/Parent Nights, and Holiday workshops. Liaise and update PTO Board as needed.
Creative Arts & Sciences Co-Chairs: Erin Huba and Kristin Price
Lead a committee to plan school-wide and grade-level programming such as assemblies, workshops and in-house residencies that support the curriculum including performers, scientists, authors, and artists.
Fundraising Chair: OPEN POSITION
Oversee fundraising sub-chairs to plan and execute fundraising events and programs throughout the year to meet PTO fundraising goals. Keep a high-level oversight on community sponsors outreach. Liaise and update PTO Board as needed.

Teacher Liaisons: Cecily D'Esopo, Christine Frend Mark and Julia MacPherson
Responsible for facilitating communication between teachers and the PTO to ensure successful and engaging PTO events.
International Night: Mariana Franklin
Lead a committee to plan and execute a fair showcasing diverse cultures through food, performances, arts, and crafts; includes coordinating with teachers and community members, recruiting booth registrants and volunteers, ensuring that the event fosters inclusivity and respect for all cultures represented, promoting the fair, and handling logistics day of.

Organize and manage student and family holiday festivities throughout the year.
Ski Weekend: Caroline White
Organize an optional ski weekend for families to meet at the slopes; includes arranging lodging accommodations blocks, and planning social activities such as meals and evening entertainment.
Wellesley Wonderful Weekend Parade: OPEN POSITION
Lead a team to represent Hunnewell in the town parade, including gathering participants and spirit items. Float building optional.
The success of our fundraising efforts hinges on many volunteers and new ideas and we hope you’ll consider offering your assistance. Even if the position(s) is already filled there’s always room for another person. Ideally, if more than one role interests you, we’d prefer to fill open positions first.

Organize communications to current and prospective donors requesting donations to support general operating expenses.
Auction Chairs: OPEN POSITION
Lead a committee to plan and execute an adult-only evening auction, Hunnewell’s largest single fundraiser, typically held every other year. All money raised supports PTO programming at Hunnewell.
Fun Fair: OPEN POSITION
Lead a committee to plan and execute a family-friendly carnival for both the school community and town offering food, rides, games and more on the Hunnewell grounds.
Book Fair: Amy Sussman
Organize a school Book Fair aimed at promoting literacy and providing the opportunity to explore and purchase books across a wide range of genres and authors.
Original Works: Kim Bayliss and Art Teacher
Work with the art teacher to help coordinate orders of student art creations and gifts.
Staff Raffle: OPEN POSITION
Lead and execute the PTO’s annual raffle, where our dedicated staff members generously offer unique and fun experiences as prizes, contributing their personal time and resources to benefit Hunnewell by raising funds. This raffle is one of the most anticipated events of the year!
Bingo Night: OPEN POSITION
Organize and oversee the event and committee; includes procuring prizes, advertising, sales, recruiting volunteers and logistics of the evening.
Boston College Football Family Day Organizer: Lillian Lau
Plan and organize tickets for a Family Day in partnership with Boston College, providing an opportunity for Hunnewell families to enjoy a football game together.
Boston Red Sox Family Day Organizer: Mary Lawton Smith
Plan and organize tickets for a Family Day in partnership with the Boston Red Sox, providing an opportunity for Hunnewell families to enjoy a baseball game together.
Creative Arts and Sciences Liasions: Provide support between our CAS Co-Chairs and grade-level teachers. Will work with grade-level teachers and CAS Co-Chairs to assist in grade level Creative, Arts and Sciences programs, and community events.

Fifth Grade Coordinators: Brittany Barber, Appy Bubna, Lillian Lau and Amy Sussman
Lead a committee to plan 5th grade activities; including but not limited to a class dance, trip, fundraiser, and graduation celebrations. Also coordinates a class gift to the school and works with yearbook committee on fifth grade section.
Fifth Grade Treasurer: Jessica Madon
Work with the Fifth Grade Coordinators to manage the budget & expenses for 5th grade activities.
Green Team: Bianca DeValeria and Jessica Miller
Plan and lead activities to encourage environmentally sound practices at Hunnewell (e.g. litter-less lunches, anti-idling, recycling, food rescue program); represent Hunnewell in town-wide Green Schools Committee.
Hunnewell Cares: Becky Flanagan and Andrea Gardos
Raise funds and provide/gather support and assistance to Hunnewell families during times of crisis or extraordinary events. Assistance might include meal trains, playdates, rides, or financial support with gift cards. Provide financial support to Hunnewell families in hardship for PTO events or other school-related activities.
Hunnewell Helps: Bianca DeValeria
Plan and lead community service programs at Hunnewell and in our broader community throughout the school year (e.g. grounds clean-up, food/toy/book drives).
Hunnewell Hive: Jennie Melnik and OPEN POSITION
Oversee 4th and 5th graders in developing and publishing the school newspaper to enhance literacy, communication, and media knowledge.
Kindergarten Coordinators: Louisa Canham and Theresa Ford
Help welcome the incoming kindergarten class at the parent orientation and student screening in the spring. Organize back-to school popsicle party and parent coffee in the fall. Be a PTO point person to help answer questions and get parents integrated into the Hunnewell community.
Merchandise Coordinators: Louisa Canham and OPEN POSITION
Promote school spirit by procuring and selling Hunnewell wear & accessories.
METCO Liaisons: Jennifer Heintzelman, Jessica Miller and Maeghan Oberoi-Smith
Serve as liaison to the METCO Family Friends Council and foster strong relationships between Boston and Wellesley families by communicating events and promoting monthly playdates with family friends. Match family friends to new incoming METCO students and oversee previous matchings.
New Family Program: Becky Flanagan
Help welcome new families by providing them with contacts and resources to help them integrate into the Hunnewell community; matches them with a host family mentor and organizes back-to-school new family activities.
Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) Representative: Joanna Troy and OPEN POSITION
Serve as liaison to the SEPAC and communicate relevant events & news to the Hunnewell community.
Sensory Inclusion Advisor: Caroline White
Partner with event organizers to have resources available to help families access resources for their child’s/children’s self-regulation, as needed, at specific large scale Hunnewell PTO events. Any caregiver of a Hunnewell child can volunteer to support this effort, and the team will ask for volunteers to help manage the resources at events.
Social Media Coordinator: Ceren Bayulgen and Bianca DeValeria
Manage the PTO's social media accounts, creating content to promote events and engage with parents, teachers, and other members of the Hunnewell community.
Staff Appreciation: Erin Huba and Sarah Mitchell
Plan and organize initiatives and events throughout the year aimed at recognizing and celebrating the contributions of staff members, such as appreciation meals, snacks, gifts, and other tokens of appreciation.
Walk to School: Eric Fudeman and Mr. Ligon (PE teacher)
Work with the PE teacher to coordinate and promote walk/bike/roll to school days.
Website Coordinator: Angela Orfanos and OPEN POSITION
Provide ongoing support and maintenance of Hunnewell PTO website.
WEF Spelling Bee: David and Vera Shuman
Represent Hunnewell at the annual Wellesley Education Foundation spelling bee fundraiser.
Yearbook Coordinators: Thea Van Arkel and OPEN POSITIONS
Yearbook coordinators guide and assist students in compiling and producing the annual yearbook, overseeing layout design, photo selection, and content organization. They provide mentorship and support to ensure the completion of a memorable representation of the school year.
